The guiding inspiration behind Chris Cuvier's musical endeavors has always been twofold:
a deep respect and passion for the art of the American popular song, and an abiding appreciation for the genius
of the countless brilliant artists who have reinvented and transformed it. The brevity and simplicity of the form, combined
with its emotional complexity and universal sentiments, has made the tunes of the master composers the most perfect vehicles
for personal expression and creative variations. Everything Chris himself plays, whether it consists of classic standards,
more contemporary fare, or his own compositions, bears his own unique stamp, which always serves to enhance and honor the
original material. This guarantees that any of Chris’s performances or musical services will offer a rewarding, thoroughly
enjoyable experience.

For over a decade, Chris Cuvier has been performing across New York and the surrounding
states with the contemporary jazz band The Blur Division (formerly known as Tempus Fugit until 2005). Joined by drummer Chris Howard and
bassist James Bennett, he has been very fortunate to find such a talented and creative pair of
musical partners who have provided an open and stimulating forum for his original compositions. Go to the Links page and visit
the group’s website or MySpace page to learn more about its history and hear the music.
Since the early 90's, Chris has remained active in numerous capacities, playing solo piano in bars
and restaurants across Long Island and the New York area, jamming with different ensembles of varying instrumentation, performing
full-fledged concerts both solo and with his band, teaching thousands of piano lessons, and providing the musical background
for cocktail hours, house parties, and corporate functions. He also continues to join his vocalist wife Stephanie
Cuvier in playing for church ceremonies, such as weddings, funerals, and Sunday masses. As an instructor with more
than ten years of professional experience, Chris has taught students of every age and level, and remains committed to equipping
them all with a solid technical and theoretical foundation in their chosen style.
In recent years, Chris has also successfully ventured into the realm of musical theater, courtesy of Theatre Three in Port Jefferson. In the summer of 2005, he served as musical director for an original production entitled Sinatra
Hereafter (now renamed Sinatra at the Pearly Gates), which musically chronicles the tumultuous life of legendary singer Frank Sinatra,
and the results were critical acclaim and resounding audience ovations. Since then, in addition to regularly appearing
in the pit band for mainstage productions, Chris has been proud to serve as accompanist for the Theatre Three touring production Class Dismissed: The Bullying Project, which has been performed hundreds of times at
schools all across Long Island and the surrounding areas. In an entertaining and compelling fashion, this original musical
addresses the pervasive and volatile issue of bullying in the 21st century, and has therefore received widespread bookings,
praise for its talented cast and appreciation for the valuable contribution it has made toward discouraging youthful
cruelty and violence.
