For over a decade, Chris Cuvier has been performing across New York and the surrounding
states with the contemporary jazz band The Blur Division (formerly known as Tempus Fugit until 2005). Joined by drummer Chris Howard and
bassist James Bennett, he has been very fortunate to find such a talented and creative pair of
musical partners who have provided an open and stimulating forum for his original compositions. Go to the Links page and visit
the group’s website or MySpace page to learn more about its history and hear the music.
Since the early 90's, Chris has remained active in numerous capacities, playing solo piano in bars
and restaurants across Long Island, jamming with different ensembles of varying instrumentation, performing full-fledged concerts
both solo and with his band, teaching thousands of piano lessons, and providing the musical background for cocktail hours,
house parties, and corporate functions. He also continues to join his vocalist wife Stephanie Cuvier
in playing for church ceremonies, such as weddings, funerals, and Sunday masses. As an instructor with more than ten years
of professional experience, Chris has taught students of every age and level, and remains committed to equipping them all
with a solid technical and theoretical foundation in their chosen style.
In recent years, Chris has also successfully ventured into the realm of musical theater, courtesy of Theatre Three in Port Jefferson. In the summer of 2005, he served as musical director for an original production entitled Sinatra
Hereafter (now renamed Sinatra at the Pearly Gates), which musically chronicles the tumultuous life of legendary singer Frank Sinatra,
and the results were critical acclaim and resounding audience ovations. Since 2007, Chris has been proud to
serve as accompanist for the touring production Class Dismissed: The Bullying Project,
which has been performed at schools all across Long Island. In an entertaining and compelling fashion, the show addresses
the pervasive and volatile issue of bullying in the 21st century, and has therefore received widespread bookings, praise for its
talented cast, and appreciation for the valuable contribution it has made toward discouraging youthful cruelty and violence.
